Are these two parts exactly the same? 🤔
Obviously the one on the left is the broken one and split apart. At a quick (or even long glance in my case), you would say they are exactly the same. Danny Hirst of Hirst Locksmiths really wishes they were, as it would mean it would now be sitting on the tilt and turn locking strip in #oxton! 🙈
After stripping the mechanism down and preparing to fit the new gearbox, Danny Hirst realised it would not fit! Though frustrating, it is important to fit the correct one. Hirst Locksmith in Galashiels has now ordered the correct one and will be back to fit it when it arrives.
Thankfully this is not a regular occurrence and in the 4 years of running Hirst Locksmiths, Danny Hirst can count on one finger where he has ordered the wrong part! He has had a couple of instances where the suppliers have sent the wrong parts. But hey; we are all human! 😅
